cause is Uniquely Singapore, has been an annual reality
for the last 12 years.
Gita Jayanti propagates
the teaching of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita, and is the largest
singular event held in Singapore on a national scale,
where all 18 chapters of the Gita are recited and oblations
offered into 18 Havan Kunds by the public for each of
the 700 verses.
Gita Jayanti began in
Singapore in 1997 as a simple one-day event with about
100 devotees chanting the full Gita. It has now evolved
into a multi-dimensional program of events, such as oratory,
Gita chanting, quiz, essay competitions, Gita forum, cultural
show catering for children, youth and the elderly.
Gita Jayanti is conducted
under the auspices of the Hindu Endowments Board, in association
with other temples and organizations. Leadership of the
Gita Jayanti is on a rotational basis and this year it
is lead by the Marwari Mitra Mandal (Singapore)
