The Bhagavad Gita epitomizes the mental conflicts and dilemmas of a man of action - the great warrior Prince Arjuna - and their resolutions with the aid of his Divine Teacher - Lord Krishna - in the midst of the battlefield of Kurukshetra leading to affirmative action. Every modern professional faces similar moral quandaries and spiritual quagmires in his or her battle field of day to day living. The Gita offers an eternal message for practical living - one of philosophical sublimation and mental transcendence while fully in the midst of action.
Chapter 3 of the Gita establishes from various points of view that the performance of prescribed duties is obligatory for everyone. Here Lord Krishna categorically and comprehensively explains how it is the duty of each and every member of society to carry out their functions and responsibilities in their respective stage of life according to the rules and regulations of the society in which one lives. He points out the inevitability of action and that inaction is not the solution.
How to act in our own day to day life so as to transform one’s life to one of enrichment and self-fulfilment is the subject matter of this talk by the revered Swamiji.
